Samvidhan Bhavan is a proposed first-of-its-kind project in India, located in Borhadewadi, Moshi, within the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune, Maharashtra. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has allocated ₹200 crore for its construction, with administrative approval granted in August 2024. The project aims to create a dedicated platform for scholars and citizens to study and promote understanding of the Indian Constitution and other democratic systems globally.
Key features of Samvidhan Bhavan include:
Purpose: It will serve as a center for constitutional education, fostering research, awareness, and discussions about India’s Constitution and democratic principles.
Additional Facility: The complex will include a meditation center on its premises, enhancing its role as a space for reflection and learning.
Land Allocation: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) transferred six acres of land to PCMC for this project on July 23, 2024, following directives from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Historical Context: The proposal was initially approved in 2018 when the area was under the Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Authority (PCNTDA), with Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge playing a key role in advancing the project during the 2024 monsoon assembly sessions.
Regional Impact: The project is part of a broader vision to transform the Chikhali-Moshi area into an educational hub, alongside other developments like an IIM campus, a government engineering college, and an international-standard library.
